Biography
Dr. Stephanie Cassin is a Full Professor and the Director of Clinical Training in the Psychology Department at Toronto Metropolitan University, and Director of the Healthy Eating and Lifestyle (HEAL) Lab. In addition, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and is a member of the University Health Network Centre for Mental Health.
Dr. Cassin received her B.Sc. (Hon) in Psychology from the University of Toronto, and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Calgary. She completed an accredited clinical psychology internship at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Following graduation, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Mood and Anxiety Treatment and Research Program). Prior to joining the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University, she held staff Clinical Psychologist positions at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (Mood and Anxiety Program), and University Health Network (Bariatric Surgery Program).
Dr. Cassin has published more than 100 scientific articles and book chapters, and delivered more than 200 presentations, on the topics of eating disorders, obesity, weight loss surgery, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, behavioural addictions, cognitive behavioural therapy, and motivational interviewing. Her research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Ontario Mental Health Foundation, and Obesity Society.
Dr. Cassin is a Member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO). She is also a Fellow of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT), and a Member of several professional organizations including the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and Eating Disorders Association of Canada (EDAC).
